mom: honey, what would you like for your birthday?! :)
mom: no silly!! i mean a REAL present!!!
November’s Challenge is the Thankful Yogis Challenge! Each day, take a picture of yourself in the pose of the day, and tell us something that you are thankful for. Post your pictures on tumblr and instagram, and tag them #thankfulyogis or #sunandair! You can also submit your pictures here.

Thick girls > Slim girls.
Yeah I talked to a vegan the other day and not the shitty kind of vegan, and now I would like to stop having dairy…
Or drink raw milk.
Yeah if you can’t find grassfed raw milk from a local dairy, don’t bother with the boiled pus sauce they sell in stores.
I’ve read a number of really compelling pieces on how drinking cows milk is sexual exploitation (as in, it’s females who have their reproductive organs exploited). We don’t need it, and we take away the calves of cows to produce it under inhumane circumstances.
well if drinking cows milk is exploitation then so is eating butter (which you’ve admitted to doing =P) or ice cream or cheese. while everything about industrial agriculture is exploitative to all parties involved, local, sustainable grass-fed dairy doesn’t have to be exploitative or inhumane. you can keep the calves in the pasture with their mothers and let them wean off naturally while also getting some milk for yourself. i don’t see that as any more exploitative than collecting honey from bees.
Just because something is “humane” still doesn’t make it natural~
THE WOMEN OF AFROFUTURIST SOUND by Kareem Reid (westindians)
These women are just a few examples of pioneers in contemporary art and culture that offer unique perspectives on the multi-narratives and realities of black femininity. They often re-appropriate and challenge mainstream representations of black female bodies, sexuality and desire. Emphasis is placed on the inherently fluid nature of their identities and often present themselves as aliens or androids to communicate their “otherness”, a common thematic trend among Afrofuturist artists.
Betty Davis and Grace Jones in the 70s and 80s preceded the huge commercial success of many acts of the 90s; particularly girl group TLC, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott and cult favourites Aaliyah and Kelis played key roles in bringing Afrofuturist aesthetics to the forefront of popular culture.
The rise of emerging artists Janelle Monae,THEESatisfaction, Solange, Kelela and Moko are encouraging signs of a new wave of enigmatic performance artists charged with the double-objective of making us dance as well as think.
